Barreworks for Elite
Chloe recently moved to the UK from Australia where she played International and club level Rugby. She represented Australia at two World Cups, mostly recently at the 2017 World Cup in Ireland.
Chloe started taking Barreworks workouts in December 2017. Aware of the attention her body needed to perform well, stay at the top of her game and most importantly, injury free, she trains with us 2-3 times a week.
Chloe had previously done Pilates, but in her own words; “Barreworks not only highlights my instabilities, but also corrects and rebuilds strength where its needed.
The key difference between barre and pilates is that I’m challenging my stability through functional, high intensity movements whilst the muscle is under tension.
As a rugby player (and especially in the scrum) I need to be able to handle large amounts of force through my body whilst under high muscular tension.”
Chloe is on a programme with us to address and correct specific weaknesses in her body and work towards selection at Richmond RFC and beyond next season. This Barreworks for Elite.
We assess each athlete on the programme using techniques specific to their sport and desired outcome. Olympic Physiotherapist, Katherine Ready (who has worked with us for over 6 years) uses screening methods based on her vast experience across a variety of sports disciplines and outlines objectives for each athlete to ensure they are able to perform at their sport at the highest level and without risk of injury. We apply these learnings to the athlete’s workouts at Barreworks to deliver a support system that supports their regular training programme without risk of over-training.
We can show Chloe how to build a robust system without interfering with her pre-season training. We can rehabilitate her injuries; manage her lower back pain and prevent injury recurrence in her shoulder at the same time as improving her posture and balance and ensuring that her stabilising muscles are responsive in functional movement. We can also offer workouts that strengthen global and local muscle systems and when she needs it, workouts that de-load her system after a game and restore flexibility as she recovers.
